I just read Jim Knight's book Unmistakable Impact. The focus is how to create a school/district that makes a difference in student learning. He discusses everything from the differing roles of instructional leaders, depending on the job title, to how to facilitate professional learning teams, to how to have workshops that have an impact, to name a few. The work he describes is doable, practical, not so theoretical that it can't be applied. He provides a ToolKit in the appendix that provide materials to support his ideas.
Each chapter has an annotated list of further resources, and for this bibliophile, it's a gold mine! He also gives a summation of each chapter which is a helpful tool one could even use as a formative assessment in a training.
This is a MUST READ. It is also worthy of a study group with the intention of developing plans for improvement.
