Indispensable is Mukunda's analysis of leaders, defined as Filtered and Unfiltered, meaning that they came up through the system or did not. He also puts leaders on a bell curve in this process so those that fall in the middle, or close to it, are called Modals. Those on the ends are called Extremes.
Extremes can be the best or the worst of leaders because their attributes can be their downfalls.
The Modals will do what the culture and times have trained them to do and it really doesn't matter who is in the leadership role, if they have been Filtered, because the "Filtereds" will roughly do the same thing.
Mukunda looked at such people as Abraham Lincoln, Neville Chamberlain, Churchill, as he discusses his theory. There's a lot of the behind the scenes decisions in politics in his book. Interesting, if you like that sort of thing.
